The ERAB e-Newsletter - Issue 10
New Year Greetings
ERAB would like to take this opportunity to wish you a prosperous and succesful 2013.
2012 Grants Awarded
ERAB is pleased to announce the funding of six new grants starting in 2013 and would like to congratulate the successful researchers.
ERAB received 49 applications this year. They were of outstandingly high quality and deciding which to fund was, as always, really difficult. A panel of external reviewers completed review forms for the applications. This helped the Advisory Board to identify the best applications with regard to the clarity of the hypothesis, the merit of the science, the calibre of the team and the appropriateness of the budget. ERAB would like to thank the external reviewers for this valuable assistance.
These projects will be starting in 2013.
Underage drinking in Europe and North America
The report "Underage Drinking A Report on Drinking in the second decade of life in Europe and North America", which was launched in the European Parliament on 27th November 2012 is now available as a paper back and an e-book. The e-book can be downloaded from the ERAB website. Further copies of the e-book, or the paperback, can be purchased from the website of the PUL (Presses Universitaires de Louvain).
The report was written by experts in Europe and North America with support from ERAB: The European Foundation for Alcohol Research and ABMRF / The Foundation for Alcohol Research which is based in the USA. The Report which has been subject to peer review, has examined the evidence concerning initiatives to reduce the consumption of alcoholic drinks in youth in both Europe and North America and makes recommendations based on what has been shown to be effective.
